Isabella's Quilt

Having spent most of the morning at doctors’ offices, my pupils are dilated from all the drops and stuff they put into my eyes. The nurse said it would wear off after a couple of hours, but it’s been 4.5 and they are still wide open. I look like a stuffed animal with those black glassy eyes. Freaky! That’s why I’m sitting in my living room with the blinds closed and bored as I cannot read blogs or anything fun. I have a water aerobics class in a few hours, so I hope I’ll be able to drive by then.

Daughter and grandson have just left after driving me around all morning, taking “Isabella’s Quilt” with them. Daughter’s lovely friend is having her second baby any day now, a little girl called Isabella. I made the quilt last year from an UFO that was so pink it hurt my eyes and my teeth. It was intended as a background for an appliqué project that never saw the light of day. Maybe it got scared by all the pink. I just added the red and black border and appliquéd the circles, and voila – a girlie baby quilt that does not hurt neither eyes nor teeth. The crease from being folded for a while will disappear – I hope.

  2. I hope your eyes are better. It always takes such a long time for my eyes to go back to normal. Much more then a couple of hours. Sometimes I have to go to bed in a dark room. Guess some of us are just more sensitive. Lovely little quilt.

  4. I have my eye exam next week and I dread the thought of dilation. It seems like it takes forever to get back to normal.

  6. I had that exam last week and it's not fun. The quilt is very cute! I like the way the striped border lines up with the checker inner border. Very clever.

  10. I'd say you did a very effective job of toning down all of that pink - it's a most wonderful baby quilt, without being babyish at all!
