Dirty aqua

I have been keeping busy this week, working on my quilt. There have been days when I have been in the zone, and it’s quite a high I’d say, being immersed in my own little fiber art bubble, loosing track of time and space.

While I am trying very hard not to add to my numerous stashes, I had to run out for some dirty aqua supplies the other day. My mother gave me a huge piece of wool fabric a while ago which I felted in the washing machine/dryer and used as a base for the panels. I love this fabric.

The colour really looks quite light blue by itself, but next to anything truly light blue, it is a dirty aqua.

What I should have done, was to bring a scrap to the store, but I didn’t, so I brought a few extra options home to be on the safe side.

I knew which one would be right, but I really didn’t want to have to go back to the store again.

The cotton yarn has been used for couching the panels to the background

using one of the decorative stitches on my machine.

It looks quite nice, but it takes forever to unstitch. Guess how I know.

One of the things I want to do this year is to take advantage of more of all the possibilities which lies within my sewing machines. So far, so good.

I also picked up lots of buttons to go with my mix of colour as my huge button collection has very little reds and pinks.

At this point my quilt feels like a blank canvas; ready for the little touches that hopefully will bring it to life. I am taking process pictures to show when the challenge is over. You know how it is.

Now you know what I’ll be doing this weekend; how about you?

  1. Is this part of the google eyes project? I can't wait to see what you are up to.
This weekend I'm getting back to the little Kisses quilt. I've been cutting and making some of the blue blocks for the RSC 2014, and really haven't even gotten a block done to add to the other 2. (Guess I spend too much time on the computer... or so sez the hubby.)
    Hugs
