He loves playing fireman, reading books and watching Fireman Sam, so looking at the fire trucks would be fun. To my surprise we were invited into the fire station, and he got to sit in a fire truck, hold the hose and take pictures with a helmet on. The fire fighters were so incredible nice, that I don’t know which one of us enjoyed it the most. Grandson, who’s usually talking up a storm, was speechless, just nodding or shaking his head to their questions, totally overwhelmed. Happy, happy day; I’m still grinning like a crazy person.-)
I also had a wonderful time with my friendly little sewing group on Wednesday night, it cheered me up immensely. We were talking about going to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, UK next year; and I would really love that, it is such a fun group of amazing ladies. I managed to finish the two bags between all the talking and laughing, and both daughter and grandson are happy with the result.
My first Make Do Month ended on Wednesday and I have started on my second without putting much thought into the decision. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything, and it will take me a while (or a decade, whichever comes first) to make a dent in my stash, so it feels right. With a possible quilting festival in sight, the motivation is even higher to avoid shopping sprees.
Have a wonderful weekend!

My 4yo son was exactly the same when he took him to an open day at the local Fire Station. Soon as we got in the car the non-stop talking resumed. My son would also love the bag you made your grandson.
ReplyDeletelovely bags. Looks like your trip to the fire station was a super success! How fun!

ReplyDeleteCute bags and what a great memory to make with your grandson.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day for all!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your cute bags.
What a treat for your grandson (and you!!)bet he'll remember that for a long time.
ReplyDeleteLove your bags too.
What a good Grandma you are. I bet he will remember this. Take Care.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to spend some quality time with your grandson. The bags are perfect for outings but you might need a larger one for the quilt festival. You don't want to be caught with a bag that won't fit all your goodies. :o)
ReplyDeleteAll the firefighters have been very nice to us too, allowing the kids to climb on the trucks, and on one of the open days, letting them use a water extinguisher. My daughter loved it.
ReplyDeleteI was also surprise that on two occasions, when we happen to pass a firetruck parked somewhere one of the guys comes out and hands a sticker to my daughter, that looked just like a badge and she proudly wears on her jacket.
Precious!!
