More celebration

My second year of blogging has started out with so many lovely comments to my anniversary post. Thank you so much! I have said it more than once – you are all a huge part of what makes blogging so enjoyable and worth the time and effort I put into the blog. Meeting new friends and making connections across continents, ages and styles is amazing and educational and inspirational and just plain fun. I also get to improve my writing, English and photography skills – all great accomplishments.

So, I’m sitting here in my old and somewhat cluttered house (uuuum; fabric, thread, batting, projects, quilts, magazines, books…) in a town that most of you probably never heard about before, just doing my thing and writing about it on my laptop. Imagine my delighted surprise when I received a mail from a fellow blogger and reader, the lovely Darlene of SewCalGal, who offered an additional prize for my 1 year anniversary celebration!

Here it is, part 2 of my 1 year anniversary giveaway: 60 delicious pink 5” charm squares donated by Darlene. We all know how the shipping rates are these days, so as she is located in the US, this is open to US readers only.
To enter this giveaway, please leave a (one, uno, une, en) comment to this post and I’ll draw the second lucky winner on the last day of the month, August 31. If you haven’t entered the first part of the giveaway yet, you’ll find it here.

Thank you so much for your generosity and support, Darlene, and good luck to you all.-)

To answer a few questions to yesterday’s post – I majored in finance (feeding my gigantic inner mathematician) and marketing (couldn’t decide on one, so like Winnie the Pooh I took both) in college (now University of Stavanger). I went back to school at the age of 40 and took project management, leadership and group psychology. In my teens I wanted to study genetics and to be a concert pianist, so there are still things to explore when I’m in my 50ies or 60ies – if I ever get tired of quilting…
Sorry, the giveaway is now closed!

  5. Mathematics is my love. My dad made us use math all the time growing up. We used to add the grocery bill on the trip through the storeand the one who came closest won. No prize, just got to say we won. He also loved to show us how geometry influenced us. Concepts were taught over the dinner table. The dreaded word problems had to be answered before food was passed. I loved it and thrived. My sister hated math so it was a little tough on her.

What lovely pink squares. Darlene is always so generous. I have some red ones that would go perfectly with the pink.

  19. Thank you and Darlene for this second part of the anniversary celebration. I never quite understood why people think math isn't for girls - my degree is in mathematics and have used it my entire work life and now for quilting/sudoku. I have a great grandniece expected by the end of the year, so all that pink can be put to good use.

  32. I love the math in quilting. It seems like I never make a pattern just how it's written (bigger blocks, smaller blocks, extra blocks, different blocks) so there is always something to figure. I'm really happy with a tablet of good graph paper, a good (x-fine point) mechanical pencil (with a good eraser), a few straight edges or other drafting templates (e.g., all sizes of circles), and my faithful box of colored pencils!

Would love to win the pink squares -- have a great-niece/nephew due in Jan and a great-niece who just turned 2 (shame on me -- except my sister (grandma) sews and so Rylee has plenty of quilts and blankies.
