3 years and running

On this day 3 years ago, it was a Friday, I decided to start a blog. My young ones had just moved out of the house and a brand new chapter of my life was laying right there in front of me. I did not read blogs at the time or have any strong visions about what my blog would be like or what it would mean to me personally and professionally, but that’s what’s so great about new chapters, isn’t it, the not knowing until you get there.

As the two year blogaversary went by silently while attending last year’s Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, I was determined to do something this year, like hosting a giveaway. I do know what I want to make, but as you may or may not know, I have been nursing a couple of bugs for the last few weeks so there has not been much quilting going on this side of the summer holidays. I am happy to say I’m all better now and getting out of the house again. Goodbye couch, hello freedom indeed!

I did however dust off one of my machines which has been parked for a while awaiting a scheduled tune-up. Patching up another pair of grandson’s pants while he was playing next to me I was thinking of all the knees I have been patching over the years and how happy I am to do so. He loves his patches.

Couch-sitting and knitting go perfectly together so I have made quite some progress on the knitted wool suit for grandbaby and am now in the process of weaving in the yarn ends. The whole thing is striped, so there are many, many ends to finish off.

I was very pleased with the touch of red on the torso so I frogged the top of the sleeves and added a little red to each of them to tie it all together.

Searching for suitable buttons was a blast, and I have quite a few alternatives set aside.

We tried the half-finished WIP on the baby today and it was not as gigantic as I feared. Puuuh.

I’ll be spending tomorrow with grandbaby, but stay tuned for the 3 year celebrations - unless something messes up my plans. Again. The whole summer has been one mess after the other but I’ll save that for another post..

  1. Congratulations on your anniversary! The knitting looks cheerful, all the ends of yarn not so much. Lovely buttons, remind me of my mother's box of buttons and how I used to bury my hands in them.

  2. Congrats! I also did not know how much I would enjoy writing my own blog. One thing that I really did not anticipate was how interesting it is to see that people are checking in to visit from all over the world! Come and visit me some time. http://talkischeapquilts.blogspot.com/
